New consultancy room!

Posted on February 2, 2020 at 9:00 PM Comments comments ()
It's finally happening; a new consultancy room we can meet and share journeys in. More information will be posted when a final venue has been arranged. This will give us the opportunity to hold Hocus Focus workshops on Saturdays, as well as a Low-Carb/Keto Support Group. We can't wait to share these exciting opportunities with you. -Sonja

Self-care for those who care so much

Posted on August 16, 2018 at 12:05 AM Comments comments ()

Sometimes, self-care is one of the most difficult things we can participate in, but it is so important. When we give so much of ourselves, our time, energy and often, our identity as an individual, finding even a few moments for ourselves can seem impossible.

Whether it's getting a chance to indulge in a good book, a bubble bath, visit with a friend or a weekend away, every little bit helps.

We can feel like the bottom of the family totem pole. Forget our own names, used to being called X's mum or dad, brother or sister, grandparent or carer. We sacrifice our wants and needs for those of others.

Always remember how important you are. You are the star of the show.

If you'd like help working out a way to include self-care into your schedule, or just need a friendly ear to vent to, drop us a line.

Clothing Brand Supporting 'Mind' Charity

I feel very honoured to be able to let you all know about this great cause.

In Music We Trust is a clothing brand that supports Mind charity, who in turn offers support for those dealing with depression and other mentail illness. Run by Aiden Hatfield, a musician who also deals with depression, the brand promotes the concept that music can help those dealing with depression and other mental illness. 50% of profits from the clothing brand go to the charity.

Here is a link to the website. Please check it out and help support the Mind charity.

There is no shame in coping with depression. We are here to help and support.
You are not alone.

Music, maestro!

Posted on May 7, 2018 at 12:25 AM Comments comments ()

While it has been clinically proven that music can have an effect on mood, it is a very personal, subjective experience. One song can have an incredibly uplifting effect on one person, but could trigger memories or sadness in another.

I must admit, music has played a large role in my life, and I can't imagine a day without it. For over a decade I stopped listening to music that I loved on a regular basis. Once I started again it had a profound change on my mood. Some songs that had made me sad before I was starting to see in a new way.

I have a list of songs that always make me feel better if I'm feeling down, some that are empowering, and others that are great for getting my energy levels up (I need all I can get when it comes to cleaning the house!).

Are there any songs that give you a boost? That bring a smile to your face whenever you hear it?

Please send us an email at [email protected] with your list of faves, and we'll add it to the online list for everyone to share (I will add it as a separate blog post).

Keep dancing on the inside, friends.

Sending stardust melodies,

-S

Happy Birthday, Evie!

Posted on April 18, 2018 at 1:35 AM Comments comments ()

We are so proud to wish our supreme overlord and taskmaster, Evangeline, a happy 3rd birthday!

It has been a strange, perilous journey but we wouldn't change it for the world. Except maybe the party-all-night-sleep-all-day thing, at least until she's seventeen.

Best wishes and stardust,

-S

Hocus Focused

Posted on April 2, 2018 at 5:20 AM Comments comments ()

Hi all.

I am so excited to announce that I have completed the training for the Hocus Focus curriculum, and I'm ready to bring it to schools and community groups in the Blue Mountains.

I am surprised at how awesome this curriculum is and can't wait to see how much of a difference it will make. I feel supremely lucky and grateful to be a part of this ground-breaking work.

If you are interested in having us bring Hocus Focus to your school or community group, please drop us a line to arrange a meeting to discuss the possibilities.

Love and stardust,

-S
